Mexican Fiesta & Camerons

10/9 - 11pm exactly

I am sleepy.  It’d be dishonest to say that I haven’t had my share in wake of a blowout of a night, but that's how any honest Italian would recover from such carousing.  Last night in pouring rain, like a Spartan, Brody and I barbecued 8lbs of steak and a gambit of chicken in a torrential downpour from the heavens to make carne and chicken asada for a said Mexican feast with local Italian mates.  After spending the entire week searching for cilantro and skirt steak (our poor kids were so sick of hearing us ask for it at literally every market within 20 miles from us) we had to settle for tri-tip and parsley like they do in Argentina.  Luckily we had a ghost pepper to wreck everyone's ability to taste so it was all the same.  A beautiful night sharing laughs at each others inability to speak the other language and heaps of wine equals a perfect blurry happy Italian night.

That was last night.  I woke up this morning slow, thanks to wanting to share the culture of Margaritas with our guests, which, being type A, I lead by example.  Nevertheless, it was 10am (after falling asleep 5 hours prior) and we had to clean this house that looked like a tornado ripped through it and head out to Cortona to meet some of our favorite Aussies in the world Mic and Andrea Cameron who we haven’t seen for 6 years!  A beautiful lunch catching up at the towns best attempt at a brewpub, some gelati, and then a windy road back to our place, and it was Pirate Life time with the founder himself at the pool chilling and drinking.  Other than Shiloh’s ‘Great Palette’ there was nothing left to talk about, and so we couldn’t be bothered by a quick trip to Montone for drinks and snacks and perfection...or we could.

We all settled in immediately with a few bottles of wine, some apps whipped up by the ladies and a glass or 7 of Montenegro Amaro’s on ice and the conversations were perfectly rich and comedic.  So looking forward to a week with our dear friends exploring the country and maybe sharing another drink or two...hundred.
